The new Half Challenge Barcelona 2013

The Half Challenge-Barcelona 2013 is this year, and for the first time, a European championship. A breakthrough in the evolution and consolidation of the event that has also required several changes. All disciplines will see their circuits modified. Competition’s director Agustí Pérez says “it is an honour that we should be compared to Roth (Germany), but we must be realistic and first we must take in this changes”.

New swimming circuit
The new U-shaped 1.900 metres swimming lap moves it’s starting line to the end of the Passeig de Garbí. The swimmers will have to make their way to the first buoy and then proceed parallel to the beach line. Finishing line will be in front of La Gavina restaurant, where the start used to be until now.


New circuit for the bikes
A highly demanding one single 90 kilometres lap that opens to the Vallès Oriental and will go through the Montnegre-Corredor and the Parc Natural del Montseny. The dreaded ‘drafting’ will be avoided and more participants will be allowed. Up to 7% slopes and a 659 metres net gain in altitude. The villages which the riders will go through will be:  Calella, Sant Pol de Mar, Sant Cebrià, Sant Iscle, Arenys de Munt, Vallgorguina, Sant Celoni, Fogars de Montclús, el Montseny, Sant Esteve de Palautordera and Santa Maria de Paulatordera.

 

 

New running circuit
21 km along Calella’s Passeig de Garbí to Pineda. A simulated elevated stadium will face Calella’s lighthouse (El Far). The possibility of including Calella’s streets in the track has been discarded.

La nova Half Challenge Barcelona 2013

La Half Challenge-Barcelona 2013 és aquest any, i per primera vegada, campionat d’Europa. Un salt qualitatiu en l’evolució i consolidació de la prova, que ha requerit també de diferents canvis. Totes les disciplines veuran modificats els seus recorreguts. El director de la prova, Agustí Pérez, diu que “és un honor que se’ns vulgui comparar a Roth (Alemanya), però hem de ser realistes i primer, hem de digerir els canvis”. Amb ell, repassem a infocalella, les novetats que presenta l’edició d’enguany.

Nou circuit per a la natació
En forma de cub (1.900 metres). Es canvia el lloc de la sortida, ara al final del Passeig de Garbí. Els nedadors hauran d’anar a buscar la primera boia i nedaran en paral.lel a la platja. L’arribada se situa on, fins ara, es donava la sortida (a l’alçada de la Gavina). Una sola volta de 90 quilòmetres, amb un traçat exigent que s’obre al Vallès Oriental i que creuarà el Montnegre-Corredor i el Parc Natural del Montseny. S’evitarà el temut ‘drafting’ i permetrà més inscrits. Inclou rampes de fins al 7% i un desnivell de 659 metres. Les localitats per on passarà la prova ciclista: Calella, Sant Pol de Mar, Sant Cebrià, Sant Iscle, Arenys de Munt, Vallgorguina, Sant Celoni, Fogars de Montclús, el Montseny, Sant Esteve de Palautordera i Santa Maria de Paulatordera. Half Challenge opens to the Vallès Oriental. From the plain lands to the mountain

For the first time in the four editions of the Half Challenge Costa de Barcelona-Maresme that have been celebrated until now, the race will not be entirely performed in El Maresme. Although the swimming and running stages are still going to be carried out in the same area as in the previous editions, the bike circuit has been designed on a more exigent basis, at one single 90 kilometres lap and more according to a European championship. There is a double purpose on this: on one hand to gather a higher number of participants, which until now it was limited by the accumulation of cyclists on the busy main road N-II, having to complete more than one lap, and on the other hand to make the circuit more interesting as to attract the best triathletes. Official confirmation of this will be presented on tuesday (Janvier 29), but Infocalella advances you the circuit, which will be very similar to the one shown on the image.

The start and finishing line will continue being in Calella, but it will mostly go through towns of El Vallès Oriental. It will begin climbing from Sant Pol to Sant Cebria and Sant Iscle de Vallalta. The Serralada del Montnegre-Corredor will be crossed through Vallgorguina and the Collsacreu arriving then at Sant Celoni.

7% slopes and a maximum height of 659 metres
The ascension of the Montseny will start at Sant Celoni, begining with a deceitful apparent flat level until the Campins roundabout. At that point, cyclists turning left to the Turó de l’Home, towards the little village of Mosqueroles, already in the Parc Natural del Montseny.

After Mosqueroles, the climb to La Costa del Montseny starts. About 5 quilometres of  up to 6 or 7 %  uphills until reaching 659 metres height over sea level. From the top, the descent starts on the other side of the mountain (through Santa Maria and Sant Esteve de Palautordera) as can be seen on the outline of the stage. From Sant Celoni the competitors will then go back to Calella through the same way they went.

Els treballadors de Gallostra surten al carrer i es tanquen a la fàbrica

Els treballadors de Gallostra han recorregut els carrers de Calella exigint als propietaris de la tèxtil que paguin

Fa 8 mesos que no cobren i ningú els assegura que ho facin. Reclamen la indemnització per acomiadament i, en definitiva, que s’escurcin els terminis per poder cobrar l’atur. La seva protesta l’han feta pública de portes enfora, al carrer, però també de portes endins, a l’empresa. Aquest divendres s’han manifestat pacíficament per Calella i han anunciat un tancament indefinit les 24 hores, a la seu on han dedicat la seva vida laboral.

La marxa, sorollosa però pacífica, ha transcorregut pel carrer Església fins a la plaça de l’església, ha tombat per Bruguera, ha pujat per Sant Joan per agafar Sant Antoni, on els treballadors han fet una aturada davant la casa del director de la tèxtil: Josep Maria Noheras. A l’entrada, han penjat una pancarta amb el lema “Tu també n’ets culpable”. La recepció a Carme Forcadell va coincidir en el temps amb el final d’una reunió informativa a la Sala de Plens de l’Ajuntament de Calella. Reunió en què hi participaven, Josep Maria Juhé (PSC), Cristina Gómez (ERC) i Miquel Campoy (PP), a qui l’equip de govern va informar del nou recorregut de la Half Challenge-Costa de Barcelona Maresme (aquest divendres s’anunciarà al Consell Comarcal del Maresme). El representant dels populars va deixar el consistori, evitant així la coincidència amb la presidenta de l’Assemblea Nacional Catalana. En canvi, Josep Maria Juhé s’hi va quedar, matisant a infocalella que era “a títol personal”. La seva presència a l’acte celebrat al despatx d’alcaldia arriba després que el primer secretari dels socialistes a Calella, Joan Torrent considerés “fora de lloc” la rebuda a Carme Forcadell, en unes declaracions fetes a Radio Calella TV.
